As an employee, you are entitled to much more than just a regular salary from your employer. To help you stay on top of things, we’ve put together a handy list of benefits, allowances and insurance you can claim. Most of these are also paid for by the state

Retraining for new professions you get from the state

The job market is constantly evolving, and with the advent of artificial intelligence and ever-increasing technology in companies, finding a job is becoming a real problem for many people. Without a driving licence, language or technical skills, it’s as if you don’t exist. In addition, a number of new professions are emerging, such as ethical hacker or corporate ecologist.

Fortunately, there are countless ways to get a foothold in the market. The state will pay for your education, or at least contribute. And that’s up to 82% of the total cost of the course. The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs has now created an e-shop where you can easily choose your dream retraining. The range of retraining courses is constantly changing and expanding, so you are more likely to find a course that suits you. With an extended education, it’s easier to get a new job or even a higher salary.

The state pays for retraining up to CZK 50,000 over 3 consecutive years. You can enrol as an employee, entrepreneur, unemployed, student or parent on maternity leave.

Benefits from your health insurance company that you will appreciate

You will also enjoy countless benefits thanks to your health insurance company, which pays for or contributes to a range of activities. This usually includes contributions for prevention, active exercise or special diets. We’ve selected the benefits offered by the Health Insurance Fund.

    Contributions for expectant mothers

Expectant mothers can look forward to contributions of CZK 3,500 for screening examinations, antenatal exercises, lactation consultants, food supplements, breastfeeding supplies, breath monitoring, dental hygiene and much more. In addition, the insurance company contributes CZK 1,000 for baby supplies or aids purchased at a pharmacy or online pharmacy. If the baby is born prematurely or has a birth weight of less than 1 500 g, you are entitled to CZK 3 000.

    Movement allowances

Regular sports and physical activity, such as swimming in the pool, training in a fitness centre or yoga, is supported by the insurance company with CZK 500.

    Allowances for vaccinations

You will also receive a financial allowance for a number of vaccinations. The amount ranges from CZK 200 to CZK 1 500. It always depends on the disease in question. The allowances are for vaccinations against:

    • influenza,

    • chicken pox,

    • tick-borne encephalitis (for insured persons under 50),

    • viral hepatitis A, B (A/B),

Insolvency of the company is compensated by the state

You wouldn’t be the first or the last. Employees of a company that has gone insolvent and doesn’t have a penny to pay you, let alone your salary, wages, compensation or severance. Fortunately, the Bureau of Labor represents this role and will remedy the problem.

    💡NAS Tip

For more information, always contact the Job Centre.

Once you report, the office will pay you the missing amount for a maximum of three consecutive months, with a maximum gross payment of CZK 56,759 from the office. However, most ordinary employees are unlikely to receive this amount.

You can apply for compensation if you have an employment contract, a work performance agreement or a work activity agreement and you have not received the promised wages for the work you have done.

    💡NAS Tip

If you entered into a work performance agreement, you are only entitled to compensation if your wages exceeded your gross income of CZK 10 001 in that month.

The cost of housing will be covered by the Labour Office

The cost of housing is rising every year, so it is not surprising that, together with running costs and utility bills, the amount is often unaffordable. Fortunately, there is a housing allowance from the Labour Office.🏠

You can claim up to 3 months in arrears, whether you’re a landlord or a tenant. And there’s just one condition. If 30% of your income is not enough to cover your housing costs. All people who occupy the property and share the costs together count towards your income.

You can easily apply online on the Job Centre’s website, via data box or by visiting the office in person, where they will also give you other useful information.

    💡NASTip

Interestingly, if your spouse is the owner, you are also entitled to the benefit.

Save money and be in control. Take full advantage of all the benefits and nice perks 😍
